Camping in the Porkies

Just got back from Porcupine Mountain State Park. Hiked with Chris and August for the weekend and saw some beautiful country. Virgin Hemlock, Sugar Maple, Ash, Birch, and White Pine trees on 60,000 acres in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Great hilly trails with rocky outcroppings and clear spring fed streams. Camped at Presque Isle campground right on Lake Superior. Lots of Thimble Berries in the woods for the picking. Billion year old rocks, black bears, sandy beaches, quiet solitude and few people characterize this little visited area of Michigan.
